Meet the teacher sessions are conducted during the first week of school. These are group sessions intended to introduce MCNS families to their teachers, provide a brief overview of the program and provide the parents with the rules and responsibilities of joining a co-operative nursery school.
Students begin their respective programs with a staggered entry. This means half of the class will start on one day and the rest of the class on an alternate day. Click here to see the school calendar.

| |
Our Junior and Senior Kinder Adventure Days are offered one morning/afternoon a week from September until June ( $60/month). Included in the program are three - 13 week themes (description below). No duty days or committee work are required and the program is led by a qualified Nursery School teacher in the Boardroom upstairs at our Manotick location. Registration is limited to 8 children per class. |

Junior Kinder Adventure Days - Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday pm.
Children must be eligible for a Junior Kindergarten program or the MCNS Kinderclass for the 2007/2008 school year.
OOOEEY, GOOEY SCIENCE ADVENTURE – children will explore messy, sensory-based science with such activities as funny putty, magic muck, rainbow stew and ice cream in a bag. Literacy skills will be strengthened as children follow written directions and create a “recipe” book.
COLOUR MY WORLD – develop your child’s creativity, imagination and self expression through activities in music, movement and art. Children will get to know the work of artists such as Claude Monet, Beatrix Potter and Pablo Picasso through entertaining games. Media will include water colour, pencil, collage, canvas board, loose canvas, tempera paints and clay as children develop fine motor and spatial organizational skills. Creative movement will include dancing to the beat, experimenting with rhythm instruments and movement props such as ribbons, balls and beanbags.
LITTLE CHEFS – cooking is an exciting way for children to learn math and reading skills. Each week, children will cook up a storm as well as learning kitchen safety and nutritional information through songs and games. Children will produce a cookbook to take home at the end of the segment. |

Senior Kinder Adventure Days - Tuesday am/pm or Thursday am. |
| |
| |
Children must have completed a Junior Kindergarten program or MCNS Kinderclass for the 2006-2007 school year.
LITTLE PROFESSORS - children are introduced to the wonders of science. The program will include topics such as nature, archaeology, space travel and numerous daily hands on experiments.
READING IS THE WAY TO GROW– children will explore literature through books, storytelling, puppetry, drama and writing activities. Weekly theme stories are occasionally complimented by “cooking up a story” cooking activities. Making books, creating stories to enhance paintings and graphing favourite authors will further develop literacy and math skills.
AROUND THE WORLD ADVENTURE – imagine your child “traveling” to a different country each week to explore the world through games, dress up activities, cooking, stories and music. Literacy and writing skills will be further developed through activities such as a travel diary, filling out “passport” applications, preparing packing lists and preparing airline tickets. |
